Smokin' Sick Style!!! 2024

These animations were created as visuals for verteX RE-Port, a unique audio-visual event inspired by video games and video game nostalgia. Delving into the data banks of mid 90s to mid 2000s video games. The event consisted of performances, poetry, and live music inspired by video games, followed by a night of spacey pads, electric panpipes, acid blips, among other iconic sounds from this unique and innovative era of video game music.

The following videos were live mixed by VDJs while sets of video game ost's were mixed and played as a club night. As such, there is no audio built in to the work, I have created a playlist of video game dnb, breakbeat, jungle, techno and other mixes that were played on the night here

The work consists of various famous video game characters and iconography placed in digitised locations across Newcastle Upon Tyne, including the venue itself. Transforming the city into video game-esque landscapes as the characters take over the city in various chaotic dioramas. This culminates as we enter a digitised version of the Star and Shadow event space, filled with doppelganger Avatars of all the participating artists, made up of 3D scans and custom models.
